Sept 11 – Marshland of Lake Muskoka

Take a front row seat to a beautiful Muskoka wetland marsh softened by lush greens. Meet at 9:00 AM and paint under the shade of the Jack Pine trees on the trail until 12:00 noon. Many spots to spread out for plein air in a flat area along the edge of the marsh. Previously this property was the First Muskoka Congregational Christian Church before conversion to a private residence.

GETTING THERE: The address is 3852 Muskoka Road 169. From Bala, take Hwy 169 for 7 km, look for the blue church building and turn right into the parking lot. From Port Carling, continue on Hwy 118 for 7 km and turn left onto Hwy 169 toward Bala. After 2.3 km turn left into the property. Google Maps click here.

PARKING INSTRUCTIONS: There is ample parking on this location and areas to paint on the edge of the marsh are a very short walk (less than 25 metres). The property has washroom access if required.

WHAT TO BRING: Your own paint supplies, chair and easel. Water for painting and drinking. Bug spray is a good idea as some trees are near wooded area.

PALETTE SUGGESTIONS: Green-gold, ultramarine blue, and burnt sienna.
