Poetry & Paintings – Composition in the Open Air
Start with a blank canvas and paint or a blank page and a pen. The Bala Plein Air group is extending an invitation for poets to join the artists for a morning of plein air. The gardens of the Muskoka Lakes Museum, located in the James Bartleman Island Park in Port Carling will be our inspiration for short poem compositions or sketches in watercolour and other media. We will meet at 9:00 AM and paint & compose poems til 12:00 noon. Group photo and poetry readings at 12:00 noon AM.
Artists and Poets are welcome to tour the museum afterwards (optional). A small admission fee applies to enter the museum.
9:00 AM to 12:00 NOON: painting and writing compositionsn
12:00 NOON to 1:00 PM: poetry reading and art sharing
A plethora of water views on all sides of the Museum building await at this island location. Public washrooms are nearby on the grounds.
WHAT TO BRING: Chairs, an easel, notebook, pen and art supplies. There are many shady options at this location, but sunscreen or hat also a good idea. Pack bug spray as mosquitoes are still a factor.

GETTING THERE: Port Carling is located on the Indian River between Lake Rosseau and Lake Muskoka. Take Hwy #118 to Port Carling. Google Maps Link Free Parking is available in the town in various lots. Pack light and count on a short walk from your vehicle into the park along the paved path to the Museum. Public washroom is available at the entrance of the Island Park.
